Welcome to Goodlife Queensview Squash
Fitness at its best

....
IF you are reading this I am assuming that you are new to the Queensview squash club and are interested in learning what is one of the oldest games and recently one of the most fast growing in North America. Squash is one of the best aerobic workouts you can get in 40 minutes. I have listed below a few pointers that I hope will make your games both satisfying and safe:
(Last updated 7 January, 2010)

  • For you to play squash to its maximum, you need to "get fit to play" and not only "play to get fit"! We would encourage you to use the other Goodlife facilities and services to maximize your strength and aerobic fitness.
  • If you have children please encourage them to join our vibrant junior programs.
  • Please use eye guards ... you will notice the squash ball is just the right size for your eye!  This is mandatory for children playing on our courts.
  • The usual ball is now a DOUBLE YELLOW.
  • Please use the new scoring system. See the NEW SCORING page on this website.
  • Unsure of the rules of squash? See the RULES page on our website.
  • Please learn to hit the ball safely .. call a LET of your opponent is close to being between you and the front wall, and replay the point.
  • Please do not bounce your body off ANY wall ... in particular off the glass walls! These are tempered glass and on occasion will shatter if hit.
  • Please protect our court floors by using proper squash court shoes (yellow gum soles or proper non-marking shoes) NO OUTDOOR shoes please.
  • See our Squash Pro if you would like to take lessons ... you will find you can advance your level of squash dramatically with a few lessons.
  • We would encourage you to join a league .. again the competition will improve your game.
  • Please cancel a court if you cannot keep a booking. We only have 6 courts and it is unfair to our MANY members if a court is left empty - in particular in prime time.
  • Please warm your body and stretch before going on the court ... this will prevent many injuries. (Note: stretching AFTER a game will also prevent many of those aches next day!)
  • Remember that our Pro and all of the coaches would be pleased to answer any questions you may have.
  • Goodlife - Queensview has one of the few International Doubles courts in Canada. See HERE for how it is played.
  • Please note that squash members ( as are all members) are required to present their membership card for scanning each time they enter the club. If you have forgotten your card, the front desk is required to ask for some photo ID.
